  1. The video, LVMPD Corrections Recruitment Video, shows the difficulty of a job in corrections. Corrections are all the various aspects of the pretrial and post-conviction management of individuals accused or convicted of crimes. The video touches base on how these individuals prepare for their profession. Through physical fitness and what looked like a form of boot camp to prepare individuals for working in the LVMPD, training on cell inspections to keep officers safe and the use of force for specific situations, how to punish inmates in a house of corrections. This video is a good introduction for those going into the correctional field.

  2. I think this video does a fantastic job in showing the audience who and what they will be actually dealing with when they are either going into corrections or thinking about joining the LVMPD corrections program. The LVMPD corrections show how they handle and treat inmates who are being aggresive and unwilling to listen to authority. This video shows how well and how much the correction officers have to train mentally and physically in order to control situation where inmates or other correctional officers may be harmed. This video shows how also at any moment, it may become dangerous. The officers have to be alert and always ready for the unexpected when handling these types of human beings.

    1. I agree with Kyle Mooney when he said that the officers have to be trained both mentally and physically. The guards working in the prison need to be able to think and work fast and efficient.

  4. I think the video was ok, but I also think that they could've done alot better. The video doesn't seem realistic. It wasn't an attention grabber at all. I highly doubt that the inmates inside the jail act like that, and me being from Las Vegas know personally how things are. Nice video just need, just needs work.

  5. The video showed how life is as a prisoner, prisoners need to be able to care and lookout for themselves. For guards its the opposite, they need to work togetjer and be able to trust one another to stay safe. The video also gave a good example of how to restrain two inmates fighting, each guard grabs a limb to ensure that no guard gets hit or kicked during the altercation.

  6. I thought this clip was alright, it did a good job summarizing everything into a short clip. however it wasn't created realistic enough. they need to use real life situations, especially when dealing with prisoners because when dealing with a real prisoner, there is real anger and real danger, thus making it a lot harder to handle. it seems like they're making the job look easier than it really is, and I don't think its wise to create any false perception especially when going for a career like that, where awareness and preparation for the unexpected dangers are extremely important to get through it and survive.

  7. I agree with Derrick and Aliya, that the video looked staged at times, like as if they hired actors to play the inmates and correctional officers. i would have also liked to see more realism. the documentary series "lock up" does a perfect example of how i would imagine a real correctional facility operates. but this is intended to be a recruitment video and it looks like its trying to grab the attention of the "every day" viewer. but again, it would have been nice to have more realism in the video.
