CRJS in an Overview

  1. This article does a very good job at outlining what makes up the criminal justice system and how it works. The criminal justice process begins with a report from victims or witnesses being made to the police who then investigate the crime in order to arrest or give the suspect a citation. It then goes on to talk about the prosecution and pretrial, the trial process, and post-trial. It also tells you what you’d need to know if you were a victim, like your right to know what is going on with your offenders trial, and if they escape or are released, and that most states have automatic notifications for victims that choose this service. Overall I think this article does a well enough job explaining the criminal justice system that anyone who reads this article will know how it operates, and if you are a victim you will know your rights and the correct choices that you should make.

    1. I really appreciated how at the end of the article there was a few paragraphs about what one would need to know as a victim. To me that sends the message that whoever wrote this article, wrote it to help victims navigate through the scariness of the criminal justice system, and describe to them what they should expect in every stage of pursuing justice. 2. I agree about the article being very interesting and spot on. Its great that there are articles out there to help inform people about what's going on and what to expect from the system. I also agree that who ever wrote this article is and would help victims during every step of the way during the process. Pinky012

    3. I also liked about how they did not only talk about the offender, but also the victim. The good to know what happens to their offender and are able to give a speech of what happened to them. I would recommend this article to whoever is interested in criminal justice because it give good quality information.

  2. This article was very informative. The outline was spot on and very easy to read and understand. I love the breakdown of the system and the breakdown of each role. I believe that the criminal justice system is a good thing to have as the follow order of operation to get the job done. I like how it talks about everyone from victim to witness and knowing your rights and the law of being protected. Knowing how things are going to go within trial itself. Again this article is very informative and I've gained clarity on exactly how it runs after reading this article. Though before I never showed much interest into the system it's very interesting. 3. I found this article is very informative. It described in detail the step-by-step processes to everything that goes on in the criminal justice system, starting with the steps taken by officers when crime is reported and ending with what happens when the offender gets released on parole. Along with the multitude of details about what goes on in every stage of the criminal justice system, this article also does a great job of explaining the crucial role every law enforcement officer, prosecutor, defense attorney, Judge, and correction officer has in the criminal justice system. There is a sentence in the article that talks about how daunting the criminal justice system may seem to those who do not work in it on a day-to-day basis. While I am still intimidated by the inner workings criminal justice system, I have a better understanding of the system as a whole after I read the article. Piglet456

    1. I agree. This article explained the whole system in a great way. Detailing every step of the system from what the parts are, to breaking them down further up to the sentencing process. A great informative article that has also given me a better understanding of it. DeadMan456

  4. I found this article very informative and easy to follow the steps that go on in the criminal justice system. The way the article broke down each step helped me understand more of what is going on. It tells how officers are able to get arrest to what happens when a person goes on trial. I liked how it told about the victim too. How they can be warned if their offender is released from jail or prison. The fact that they can give their own statement to what had happened to them, so the jury can hear their side decide what to do with the offender. What would be frightening though is if the officers could not find enough evidence to arrest the suspect. Overall, I liked how it talked about each step of the criminal justice system to give me more knowledge of what actually happens once someone is arrested.

  5. The article does a good job breaking up the sections of the criminal justice system. I believe the criminal justice system is set up just right, to have our professionals to get the job done the right way. I also like the way the process of the criminal justice is taking into effect when it is all necessary. I like the way the article is breaking down. Its one of the best so far! The article honestly gave me more information of what happens when someone gets arrested. I didn't know it was so much into arresting some one.

    1. Yes, its interesting to open your eyes and realize all the steps there are in the system. With out even one of the steps the system would be un-operable. Perhaps, maybe even a broader education across the board may even be able to deter future criminals!? Sometimes if people are just more aware and aware of the consequences, it may cause them to think a bit more before breaking the law.

  6. i enjoyed this article as it gave a complete, say, definition of each section of the criminal justice system. I liked the way it layed out the court system and who does what. Most of it i didn't know about. I also liked that it tells you how the victims in court cases are protected and can view the status of the offender. This article gave me a good idea of what the criminal justice system. DeadMan456

  7. This was a very good article. I liked how it broke down the system into all the parts so you could see exactly which part does what. It is also apparent that there is a lot to steps to the system as well as some "leeways" such as plea deals. Seeing all of the parts listed also reminds me on how vital every part is and that the system would be badly broken if one was missing. It is also evident that victims and offenders are treated how they should be , on paper, just like anyone else. Yes, there is obviously many cases where the offenders and or victims are treated badly, but seeing all of the things that are supposed to be in the system, shows the greatness of the system.

    1. I agree with you on the part when you say that the offenders get treated how they should on paper. In reality though not all of them do that is the thing. I have been inside the prisons and jails before and not all the prisoners are treated how they should be. In some cases, the victims aren't even treated right. It all depends on the person treating and booking them, or making the arrest. I love our system but that does not mean the people in it are good too.

  8. This article was well written and clarified how the criminal justice system works. It talks about how it starts with a report from the victim or a witness. It also told us what each part of the court system is and what they do and how they work within criminal justice. That part was my favorite. In many cases the offenders are treated badly an I do not agree with that. The system itself is great but it is how the people working them portray it. The system itself if it were used one hundred percent correctly all the time would make the best system ever in my opinion. This article so far is my favorite. It goes into detail of what happens when someone is a victim and they make an arrest. All in all I really like this article because it is so informative and so is our criminal justice system.

  9. I felt like this article was just a refresher of what most of already knew. Many people interested in the criminal justice fields learn the difference between federal and state very quickly; But by saying that im glad to see there is an artical that clearifies it to the ones who don't know or wanting to learn. I also like the "if your a victim" part i had no idea such a program exsited where you can sign ur name and check up on the the criminal that did you wrong at any given moment. This artical was very informative on the postions of most of the main workers in the court system. As for someone like me that assumes the justice system was so simple to be shown the truth on the matter was a real eye opener for me

  10. This article was very informative about the criminal justice field. It broke it down step by step and it was very understandable to. From What is it, the system components, how it works, the post trail, and if you are an victim. I really never looked into much of the system and didn't try understand it much because I never took the time out to learn it but reading the article broke it down and pretty much opened a door in my life to see if i really wan to take up the jobs that it provide.
